Pearls of Truth

Old Testament Prophecies Fulfilled in Jesus Christ

Many Old Testament prophecies point to a coming Messiah thousands of years before the First Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ. Their accuracy and details provide convincing evidence that he was the long-sought-for Messiah, sent to redeem our dying world.

This work organizes and highlights important prophecies that Jesus himself pointed to and then fulfilled in the presence of his followers.  Old Testament passages are shown on left-facing pages with their New Testament fulfillment on the right-facing pages. This faith-strengthening approach is evidence that the Bible is God’s word and mankind’s Redeemer has come.

An appendix also provides an extensive listing of additional Old Testament prophecies fulfilled during Jesus’ earthly ministry.

Core Theme: Fulfillment of Prophecy

  • Central idea: events in the New Testament fulfill Old Testament prophecies
  • Jesus explicitly fulfills the Law, Prophets, and Psalms
  • Repeated emphasis that Scripture must be fulfilled—not symbolic only, but real and historical
  • Prophecies about the Messiah (birth, death, role) are presented as completed in Jesus

The Messiah (Jesus Christ)

  • Jesus is the promised Messiah foretold in prophecy
  • Born of a virgin, from the line of David, in Bethlehem
  • Came to defeat sin and Satan
  • Died for humanity’s sins and now reigns with God
  • Will return to establish His Kingdom on earth
  • Played a role in creation itself

The Holy Spirit

  • Described as God’s power and presence—not a separate person
  • Given to believers after repentance and baptism
  • Received through the laying on of hands
  • Guides, strengthens, and transforms believers
  • Produces spiritual “fruits” (character qualities) in a Christian’s life

The Christian Life

  • A Christian must:
    • Repent of sin
    • Be baptized
    • Receive the Holy Spirit
  • True Christianity involves:
    • Obedience to God’s commandments
    • Living according to Scripture
    • Loving others
  • Faith alone is not sufficient—obedience is required

The Church

  • Defined as the body of believers, not a physical building
  • Jesus is the head of the Church
  • Church members:
    • Keep God’s commandments
    • Support one another in love
  • Leadership exists to serve and spiritually guide
  • The Church continues the work of preaching the gospel

Israel

  • Includes both:
    • Physical descendants of Abraham
    • Spiritual believers (Christians)
  • God’s promises are tied to Israel
  • Gentiles who believe are “grafted in”
  • End-time regathering and restoration are emphasized

Plan of Salvation

God’s Calling

  • God calls ordinary people—not the powerful or wise
  • Many are called, but few are chosen

Repentance

  • First step in salvation
  • Requires turning away from sin and seeking forgiveness

Judgment & Resurrection

  • All people will be judged
  • A future resurrection is described (including those who never knew truth)
  • God’s ultimate plan includes teaching truth to all humanity

God’s Law & Commandments

  • The Ten Commandments are:
    • Eternal
    • Unchanging
    • Required for Christians
  • Sin is defined as breaking God’s law
  • Obedience is evidence of love for God
  • Jesus did not abolish the law but upheld it

Sin & Moral Living

  • Sin leads to death
  • Forgiveness is available through Jesus if there is repentance
  • Some sins are emphasized strongly (e.g., sexual immorality)
  • Moral purity is required for entering God’s Kingdom

The Gospel

  • Defined as the “Gospel of the Kingdom of God”
  • Focuses on:
    • God’s future reign on earth
    • Restoration of all things
  • Must be preached to the entire world

The Work of God

  • Every believer has a role in:
    • Sharing the gospel
    • Doing good works
  • Faith must be accompanied by action
  • Believers will be judged by their works

Church Structure & Practices

  • Churches are locally governed but spiritually unified
  • Jesus remains the ultimate authority
  • Practices include:
    • Sabbath observance
    • Biblical feast days
  • Leaders are chosen from within the community

Tithes & Offerings

  • Giving is a personal act of worship
  • Believers are encouraged to tithe and give offerings
  • Should be done willingly and faithfully

Minimum Requirements of a Christian

  • Believe in Jesus as the Son of God
  • Repent of sins
  • Obey God’s commandments
  • Live a transformed life
  • Balance of faith + obedience is essential

Overall Message

  • Christianity is not just belief—it is a way of life
  • God’s truth is consistent across Scripture
  • Jesus fulfills prophecy and reveals the path to salvation
  • Obedience, repentance, and faith together lead to eternal life
